Weekend Bliss

Spring arrived this weekend- at long long last. I pulled out my lace tops and sunnies to celebrate and got some flowers to decorate the apartment.

While Spring is here, it’s still important to keep looking after our immune systems as our bodies are adjusting to the change. This is why I had lots of spicy chai tea and an immunity smoothie. For this smoothie you’ll need:

Frozen berries, organic
a cup of fresh green tea
super greens
matcha
a chunk of fresh ginger
turmeric
a spoon of raw honey
a few spoons of yoghurt

Turmeric needs either honey or some kind of “fat”, like yoghurt, for it’s properties to be activated. It’s a fantastic blood cleanser and is an anti-inflammatory. It’s good for everything really!

Rosé is the new chic

Paris, god bless its little heart, has been completely unable to make up its mind, weather-wise, as of late. Thankfully, the day of this special launch party for Lillet Rosé hosted by My Little Paris the sun was out and Spring graced us with her presence. As Henry Miller said,”God knows, when spring comes to Paris the humblest mortal alive must feel that he dwells in paradise”.

This rosé apéritif is served chilled so it was perfect with the warm sunset in Paris.

Meg and I arrived and were charmed by the pink glow and decorations. The theme of the party, “Rosé is the new chic” was written everywhere with spotlights and neon tube lights. Just charming!

I was lucky enough to discover Chat‘s music which I found really up-beat and uplifting. You can discover her music on itunes too. Her Parisian chic vibe was the perfect live music for this kind of event.

Downstairs we did a cocktail workshop and had fascinators put in our hair (pink, of course!). A tumblr has been set up to show off the night. We met the lovely Chloé who is another blogger in Paris.

I am really looking forward to Summer and re-creating the Lillet cocktails we had- the perfect Friday night apéritif drink to unwind after a long week.

Thanksgiving Flashback

Seems so long ago that we were feasting on this delicious meal for Thanksgiving (my first ever!) last year chez Meg. I am such a fan of polaroids too. I have a big album dedicated to my polaroids. The colours are so soft and they are such great memories.

Do you take polaroids too?

A Happy Weekend

It was a fun afternoon with Meg and Sasha. How adorable is Sasha’s garden?

What are your plans this Sunday? Here in Paris it’s finally sunny. Spring took a while to come this year.

Friday things.

Spring has sprung! The sun is shining here in Paris today which makes the weekend even more exciting.
I am going to the countryside this weekend to breathe in the fresh air, walk, read and eat good food.

My lovely father surprised me with these shoes. He is such a rockstar, he chose them himself!

I just bought myself this too with the 10 euro discount when you sign up to the ASOS newsletter! Overalls remind me of Summer and my childhood and it’s a nice feeling when the sun is finally making an appearance.

I have started writing articles on Localers- check them out for tours of Paris and articles on what to do and where to do. I will be their food writer, giving tips on where to eat and how to eat like a local in Paris.

Here are a few photos to inspire you all for the weekend, my lovelies. xx

Voyager Candles

I discovered Voyager Candles recently and I am so glad I did. It’s hard to find candles that are 100% natural and I really don’t like burning candles that use unauthentic essential oils or wax that contains toxins. The idea of Voyager came to Kerrie almost two years ago. She has always been interested in fragrance, and have had the travel bug since she was eighteen years old. After 25 years in the fashion industry, she was ready for a career change, and travel-inspired perfumed candles seemed to be a good fit for her!

Voyager candles are made from a blend of soy, coconut and beeswax. For her candle manufacturer in Melbourne, it took many months to get the right wax recipe, one that contained no palm wax or paraffin (isnt’t that wonderful?!), and that suited the particular heat properties of the thermal glasses. The complex, but subtle Voyager fragrances are inspired by places Kerries loves, and are named after gardens around the world.

In total there are five candles in the Voyager range but it couldn’t have been more appropriate for me than to get the Melbourne and Paris inspired candles, bien sur! The Belleville candle is inspired by Paris and has amber, guiawood, vanilla, lavender and courmarin. It is very soft and I love the vanilla that comes through and fills my apartment. The Alexandra candle, inspired by Melbourne, and named after the Alexandra gardens has bergamot, petigrain, fig leaves, sandalwood and green tea. I love this one as it reminds me of big open spaces, freshly cut grass, big skies, warm northerly winds, cicadas, jetty walks and coastal drives… Gosh I miss Melbourne.

I highly recommend you to head over to Kerrie’s website Voyager Candles. Which candle would you choose and why? What places in the world have a strong memory with you? I think it’s such a great idea, a candle that recreates a memory. Our memory is very strongly linked to our smell so it’s genius.

Happy weekend everybody! I’m off to market now ♥

DIY for Valentine’s Day

I adore making things with my hands and what better way to show your love for somebody than by making them a gift? Whether it’s a meal, a present, a card, a poem, a song, a garden or anything at all- aren’t homemade gifts the best kinds? J and I have never really celebrated Valentine’s Day because of it’s commercialness but also because for many years we were going between France and Australia and it sort of slipped through the radar. But I think it’s sad not to celebrate a day of love just because it’s commercial, don’t you? I mean, nowadays everything is commercial, so it’s not a really good reason in my eyes. I strongly believe that we don’t celebrate love enough. When we look at the news we see negative images, we complain about the government and the system, about each other, about our lives and situations. For too long we have been taught to complain, almost as though being constantly positive and happy is too close to gloating, therefore should not be done.

I am here to remind you that celebrating our lives and those we love is a great thing and does it really matter if it’s cheesy? Life is all about the nitty gritty details and the things we feel. So tell me, how do you celebrate love?

Here is a little gift I made for J for Valentine’s Day. (He is subscribed to my posts so he may see it before Thursday. If this is the case J, please pretend you didn’t see it and act surprised Thursday!)

It was so simple- I went to a photobooth and did a strip of photos with a blank piece of paper as a sign so that I could write what I wanted on it later on to make it look like a sign. And with my amazing stamp set from Germany I printed little hearts on the photo.

A sleepy Saturday under the snow

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ~ Roald Dahl ♥

I woke up early on Saturday and ventured out alone into the snow to marvel at the beauty. The small things like this in life are what count.

Everything was so much more peaceful in Paris this weekend under a blanket of snow. The sound of Paris is different, it feels numbed by the snowflakes and it’s as though the whole city is asleep. There are not many things more beautiful in the world than waking up, opening your blinds and seeing your whole street covered in white fairy dust.
